We also offer a Master Guide on request containing fun activities related to growing hops and their history.

Self-Directed Groups

Our museum offers primarily a self-guided experience. Reservations for these visits do not require as much notice.

If you carry smart phones, the museum offers short audio clips in multiple languages to augment these tours with first-hand stories and details from farmers and industry experts. Wi-Fi available.

Docent Guided Groups

With advance notice, we can often arrange for guided group tours with a docent.

Our docents are usually hop farmers, retired industry experts, or the museum director.

Ensuring a Great Visit: Group Guidelines

Quick Summary

  • Notice Required: 2 weeks (Self-directed) or 3 weeks (Docent)

  • Payment Due: 48 hours in advance

  • Cancellation: 48-hour notice for refund

We look forward to welcoming your group to the American Hop Museum. To help ensure a positive experience for all visitors - and to allow our small, part-time staff to plan appropriately - please review the following guidelines.

Accessibility & Visitor Considerations

  • Indoor exhibits and one restroom are wheelchair accessible.

  • The outdoor equipment yard has deep gravel and is not recommended for mobility aids.

  • Audio content is available via personal smartphones using museum Wi-Fi.

  • We suggest allowing 40 - 60 minutes for your visit.

Hops and other agricultural materials are present on site. Some individuals may experience allergies or irritation. Group coordinators are responsible for checking sensitivities prior to booking.

Booking Your Tour

  • Advance notice is requested for all group tours.

  • Your tour is not confirmed until you receive an email confirmation from the museum.

  • Please allow up to one week for a response, as staff availability and a docent scheduling may take time.

Planning Timeline:

  • Guided tours with a docent: at least 3 weeks

  • Self-guided tours: at least 2 weeks

To receive group tour rates, groups need to include a minimum of 10 people, ages 6 through adult. We request that the primary or secondary group contact be present for the duration of the visit.

Payments & Tickets

  • Payment in full is required 48 hours before the tour. We prefer and assume a single payment. Please let us know if that is not feasible.

  • A payment link will be emailed with your tour confirmation.

  • Accepted payment methods: credit card or ACH bank draft.

  • School groups that need invoicing or payment by check may contact the museum to make alternative arrangements. School purchase orders are accepted.

  • Tickets will be issued by email once payment is received and scanned upon arrival. School groups may check in as a group rather than using individual tickets; let us know your preference upfront.

If payment is not received by the deadline, the reservation may be cancelled.

Date Changes, Cancellations, & Late Arrivals

We understand that group plans can change and do our best to be flexible. The museum also understands that school groups may experience unavoidable changes and will make reasonable accommodations when possible.

  • Date changes: Please provide at least 72 hours' notice.

  • Cancellations: Require 48 hours' notice. Cancellations after this time are non-refundable.

  • Late arrivals: We know travel can be unpredictable; please call us if you are running behind so we can adjust the docent's schedule.

Group Size Changes

  • Should your group size increases by 10 or more people, please provide us with 72 hours' notice so an  additional payment can be arranged.

  • Smaller increases may be paid on arrival.

  • If fewer visitors attend than originally paid for, a refund will be issued to the original payee after the tour.

  • It is the responsibility of the primary or secondary group contact to inform us of the new total number of visitors in your group before the tour begins.

Supervision & Group Behavior

Adult supervision is required for youth groups. We provide Chaperone Cheat Sheets to help adults engage student with exhibit effectively.

  • Elementary (Grades 1 - 5): 1 adult per 6 students

  • Middle & High School: 1 adult per 10 students

Adults are responsible for the behavior and safety of those in their care. Museum staff or docents may end a tour at their discretion if behavior is unsafe or damaging. In such cases, refunds will not be issued.

Help Us Protect the History

  • No food, gum, or drinks other than water in closed containers.

  • Pencils only - no pens, markers, or pigments.

  • To preserve our vintage equipment, please enjoy all machinery from a safe distance - no climbing or crossing barriers.

  • Bags are limited to one per adult. Medical bags are exempt.

  • We request photography and videos be limited to the foyer and external front and mural side of the museum due to copyright restrictions for some of our internal exhibit artifacts. Tag us in your foyer and mural photos! @AmericanHopMuseum

Group Size & Flow Through the Museum

  • For the best experience, we recommend groups rotate through exhibits in sub-groups of 10 or fewer ( 6 is best).

  • Groups larger than 30 should expect to rotate through exhibits, with waiting areas outside.

Additional Services

  • We have a large, grass park directly across from the museum that is available for picnics or extended events.

  • Our exhibits have optional audio stories from hop farmers and industry specialists and historians. Audio is accessed through the building Wi-Fi using your personal smartphone (internet browser and QR code reader).

  • A docent may be available on request.
