Brewing is Our Passion
The Ice Harbor Brewing Company was founded in 1996 when Mike Hall and Bill Jaquish quit their jobs at the Hanford site to pursue their dream - to start a local brewery. Both had homebrewed for 10 years and had learned that great beer can only be brewed by people with a deep understanding of brewing and who have a driving passion for beer.
Their dream was to create a place where local beer lovers can stop by to talk about beer, drink the brews, and fill their refillable bottles with draft beer like days of old. They dreamed of being the best brewery around with their beers proudly served throughout the Tri-Cities. From this vision the Ice Harbor Brewing Company was born.

Pike Brewery was founded in the historic La Salle Hotel Building, in the Pike Place Market, in 1989. In a tiny 4-barrel brewhouse, with the best ingredients we could find, we began to brew English-style ales with a Northwest emphasis -- especially with more hops. We moved to our current (larger) location about 40 yards away in 1996 and changed the name of the brewery to Pike Brewery at that time. The new space allowed us to open a 225-seat brewpub, with a 25-bbl brewhouse rising right through the middle of the pub.
The year-round Pike beers are Pike Pale, Pike Kilt Lifter Scotch-style Ale, Pike Naughty Nellie's Ale, and Pike IPA; seasonals include Pike Oatmeal Stout, Pike "Old 89" Porter, and Pike 5X Stout. At the Pike Pub, there are occasionally one-of-a-kind beers that allow our brewers to express their creativity.

When we opened the doors in 1997 we offered only two beers to customers, the Port Townsend Pale Ale and The Port Townsend Brown Porter. Since that time we have grown to brew over 10 ales.
In 2003 we went from bottling just two of our beers to all 10.
Port Townsend Brewing Company is one of the few microbreweries that use "open fermentation".
Our very own Boatyard Bitter was the 2004 Silver Medal Winner at the North American Brewers Awards held in Idaho. This ale won in the category of English (Special) Best Bitter. We replaced our original 7 Bbl system with a new 15 Bbl system,
we bought four more conditioning tanks, and expanded our beer garden to include a bandstand , lots more seating and outdoor heating.

The Steam Plant Grill is located beneath twin 225’ smokestacks in downtown Spokane in an award-winning renovation of a 1914 building which generated steam heat for downtown Spokane for 70 years. The catwalks, boilers and history of the building are evident in every view. We have an on-site brewery, which uses exclusively Yakima Valley hops, and an extensive wine list to match our upscale casual northwest menu with everything from steaks to paninis to pasta to fish. We have meeting rooms and host many events and parties.
Any visit to Spokane should include a look at Steam Plant Square (www.steamplantsquare.com) and the Steam Plant Grill.
