Mt.Angel's Annual Oktoberfest

Every year over 350,000 people come to Mt.Angel for the weekend of their lives. They are drawn to the tiny rural community, 40 miles south of Portland, Oregon by its beautiful countryside, Bavarian charm – and one of the greatest folk festivals in the Northwest.

There is something for everyone at Oktoberfest: Over 60 little food chalets laden with rich, delicious Bavarian treats; a large arts and crafts show full of treasures to take home; an adult Biergarten, family Weingarten and interactive family Alpinegarten. There is free entertainment on the village bandstand featuring all of the great sounds of the alpine country and a free Kindergarten on Saturday and Sunday. Take part in a 10-kilometer volkswalk or fun-run. Enjoy a sports program that includes softball, golf and volleyball tournaments, a high school football classic, a 200-vehicle cruz-n car and so much more.

Fresh Hop Ale Festival in Yakima, Washington
COME TO YAKIMA’s FRESH HOP ALE FESTIVAL to hear the tale of a day’s journey with a hoppy reward! You can eat, drink and think hoppy thoughts in the homeland of hops’ bounty.
    The journey’s premise lies in fresh hop ale’s requirement that Yakima Valley hops must travel from the vine to the brewing vat in less than 24 hours. The reward is a crisp and smooth craft beer with a pleasant, citric, hoppy aroma. Yakima Valley should be a priority stop for anyone interested in beer’s “source” — the fertile ground produces 70% of America’s hops.
    In addition to the unusual brewing excitement, the festival features live music by Roadhouse and Mulligans Rock. Many varieties of craft beer will be available, as will local food and wine. All proceeds support Allied Arts of Yakima Valley, which coordinates arts programs, classes and events.
    The festival is in downtown Yakima’s Millennium Arts Plaza. Tickets are $20 advance or $25 day of, and include a commemorative beer or wine glass and $3.00 worth of scrip (used instead of cash for beer samples). Event is 21 and over only. Tickets are available at select locations throughout Yakima or via the festival Web site at www.freshhopalefestival.com. Call Allied Arts at (509) 966-0930 for tickets and more information.*
    *A limited number of VIP tables are available for $600 each (table seats 10 people and includes 10 beer or wine glasses, $100 of scrip and a tray of hors d’oeuvres).

The Microbrew Festival is designed to offer beer connoisseurs a chance to taste an assortment of microbrews and talk directly with the brewers.
